Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from doodles!

Yesterday was our daughter’s first Christmas (and our first as parents).  It was a magical day filled with many memories and blessings.

I normally post things related to entrepreneurship and the business of software, but since we are multi-faceted people and family is very important in having a grounded perspective, I’ve decided to do something a little different.

Actually, I can’t take credit for the idea — my wife convinced me that people are interested in more than just  the usual blah blah blah (I’m sure she’s right!).  So, here’s a photo summary of our day.  Enjoy!

Sleepy beauty

Sleeping beauty … wake up!

Abby was difficult to wake from her slumber. We kissed her, spoke to her, and gently nudged her for a good five minutes before she came to life.  Watching her wake up is a wonderful experience, as I’m sure the parents reading this know.

Matching PJs!

Matching PJs! Mom is crafty like that 🙂

Once we she was awake, we had some wonderful moments in bed. Sarah created a matching pair of Christmas PJ’s for Abby, and so this is how we awoke. I wore a green shirt to contrast with Abby’s red onesie. I guess as a father you start thinking about these kinds of things.  I also ended up wearing my PJs all day, which I think is a first for me!

The 405 virtually empty

The 405 virtually empty

After opening some gifts at home, we jumped on the 405 (which was nearly empty — that’s a miracle), and headed to Grandma & Grandpa’s. They live an exit away which makes it nice and easy to get there.

Opening gifts

Cousin Owen opening gifts!

We opened gifts with the family, including Uncle Matt and Cousin Owen (3 months). We rotated in age order, starting with the youngest and ending with the oldest.  Abby had a great time ripping paper and playing with ribbons.  It was great welcoming the two little ones into the family and enjoying Christmas with them.

Tired girl!

What a tired girl!

After brunch, we headed home to put Abby down for a nap. She was tuckered and fell asleep in my arms even before hitting the crib. It was a precious moment and Sarah managed to snap a picture.  What a gift it is to hold your sweet child as she drifts into dreamland.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

After spending some calm hours at home (and watching a few episodes of our new favorite show, Parks and Recreation), we turned on our Christmas lights, got back in the car, and had a wonderful dinner with Grandpa and Grandma.

Below are some more pictures; click to watch as a slideshow. I hope you also enjoyed time with family and have been able to slow down and rest.  Here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas!
